Springfield, Ohio – Wittenberg University women’s volleyball senior outside hitter Kara Seidenstricker (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) has earned 2015 first-team All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

The first-team award is the third of Seidenstricker’s illustrious collegiate career, to go along with a second-team All-American designation as a sophomore in 2013. She will be recognized at the AVCA’s annual banquet on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Grand Rapids, Mich., site of the NCAA Division III Tournament quarterfinal, semifinal and championship matches that start Thursday, Nov. 19.

Seidenstricker leads the Tigers for a fourth straight season with 325 kills and 63 service aces, in addition to 384 digs and 46 blocks, which rank second and fourth, respectively, on the team. The 2012 NCAA Division III Freshman of the Year, Seidenstricker has been charged with just 30 reception errors in a whopping 488 attempts in the 2015 season.

She has earned first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors four straight years, in addition to the league’s Player of the Year award in 2012, 2014 and 2015. In addition, she has been recognized with first-team Academic All-District honors three straight years and first-team Academic All-America in 2014, and she was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Regional Tournament hosted by Juniata last weekend.

Seidenstricker ranks seventh in school history with 1451 career kills, and she also ranks 10th in school history with 1443 career digs.

The Tigers head into the NCAA Division III Tournament quarterfinals against Clarkson with a 27-2 record, which included a perfect 8-0 in the conference en route to their 21st NCAC regular season and tournament championships. Wittenberg, ranked sixth in the latest AVCA poll, is competing in its 20th straight (21st overall) NCAA Division III Tournament, which opened with wins in the first three rounds over Bluffton, Heidelberg and third-ranked Juniata.
