Tigers Sweep Wooster To Open NCAC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers opened the 2014 postseason with a dominating 3-0 sweep of Wooster in the opening round of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament.

The Tigers, ranked No. 4 nationally, improved to 25-3 overall on the 2014 season after claiming the top spot in the NCAC regular season standings for a ninth straight year with a perfect 8-0 record. As the No. 1 seed, Wittenberg earned hosting rights for the league tournament and made short work of the Scots by set scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-19.

Wooster had negative attack percentages in the first two sets before offering a more stern challenge in the third frame. The Scots led 14-9 midway through the set and held a narrow 19-18 advantage before the Tigers got on track, rallying for the last seven points, including six in a row on the serve of junior All-American Kara Seidenstricker (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder).

Seidenstricker led the Tigers with 11 kills, 14 digs and three service aces, followed closely by sophomore Kendall Farmer (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) with nine kills and four blocks, and sophomore Camila Quinones (Sunbury, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with nine kills. Junior Kristina Fultz (Batavia, Ohio/Glen Este) chipped in with six kills and 12 digs, while senior setter Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) added four kills and 28 assists.

The Tiger defense was paced by senior libero Kiah Murray (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) with 18 digs.
