Tigers Open NCAC Play With Sweep At Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio - To start North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play, the Wittenberg Tigers picked up in 2014 right where they left off in 2013. And 2012. And 2011. And so on.

Winners of 18 of the last 19 NCAC regular season and tournament titles, Wittenberg kicked off the 2014 league campaign with a dominating 3-0 victory at Wooster. Overall, Wittenberg improved to 8-3 after winning by set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-19.

Wittenberg attacked at a .237 percentage while holding Wooster to -.130. The Scots dropped to 4-11 overall and 0-1 in the league.

Junior Bryanna Jay (Girard, Ohio/Girard) led the way offensively with seven kills and a .667 attack percentage. Senior Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) and sophomore Courtney Huck (Decatur, Ill./St. Teresa) combined for 26 assists, and sophomore Camila Quiñones (Sunbury, Ohio/Worthington Christian) and freshman Maddie Fischer (Minerva, Ohio/Minerva) each added six kills in the match.

Defensively, sophomore Maria Froendhoff (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led with 16 digs, and sophomore Jenny Lehman (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) added 11 digs. Fischer chipped in with three blocks.
