Kenyon No Match For Cruising Tigers

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Wittenberg volleyball team extended its overall winning streak to nine matches tonight with a sweep of Kenyon, improving to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

The Tigers also pushed an NCAC winning streak to 39 matches with the victory, and with the sweep have now won their last 24 overall sets.

Senior Andrea Behling (Columbus, Ind./North) led the way by hitting .550 on 12 kills and error in 20 attempts, attacking at a percentage higher than .400 with at least seven kills for the fifth time in the last six matches.

Junior setter Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) turned in another fine performance with 28 of the team's 33 assists, helping on all but 11 of the Tigers' kills on the night.

Junior Kiah Murray (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) served three aces for Wittenberg and sophomore Katie Zito (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) picked up 13 digs.

Freshman Emily Kahlig (Coldwater, Ohio/Coldwater) was efficient on the attack with six kills and one error in eight attempts for a .625 percentage, and contributed two block assists. Also contributed on the attack were freshman Camila Quiñones (Sunbury, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with eight kills and sophomore Brooke Barney (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) with four.

As a team, the Tigers hit .341 (39-9/88) while limiting Kenyon to 17 kills and a hitting percentage of -.086.

Wittenberg enjoys a rare weekend off from intercollegiate competition, hosting the team's annual alumnae match at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, in Pam Evans Smith Arena. The NCAC schedule resumes on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at DePauw at 7 p.m.
