Tigers Cruise Past Kenyon And Denison

WOOSTER, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers continued to take care of business against North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition, taking a pair of matches by 3-0 scores on Day 1 of the conference's Power Weekend activities at the College of Wooster.

Wins over Kenyon and Denison moved the fourth-ranked Tigers to 22-2 overall and 11-0 in the NCAC. The Tigers have a two-game lead with five matches to play, starting with a pair on Sunday against winless Oberlin and third-place DePauw. Wittenberg is in search of its 16th NCAC regular season title in the last 17 years and sixth in a row.

The win over Kenyon, Wittenberg's second in four days, came by set scores of 25-15, 25-9, 25-10. Sophomore Andrea Behling (Columbus, Ind./North) was simply outstanding, pounding a whopping 11 kills on just 12 attempts for a blistering .917 attack percentage. Freshman Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Perry) was strong as well, finishing with four aces, five kills and 29 assists.

Against Denison, the Tigers were victors by set scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-16. Senior Kimmie Dyer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) led the offense with eight kills, while the defense got a lift from a pair of freshman. Ali Hock-James (Cincinnati, Ohio/Amelia) contributed three blocks and Kate Shoemaker (Valvonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) chipped in eight digs.
