Tigers Wrap Up Power Weekend With Big Win Over Denison

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on a busy North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) week, easily topping Denison, 3-0, for the second time in less than a week on their home floor.

The win, Wittenberg's third in two days as part of an NCAC Power Weekend, moved the fourth-ranked Tigers to 22-2 overall and 12-1 in the conference. Wittenberg can wrap up a share of the 2010 NCAC regular season title with a win at Wooster on Friday, which would be the Tigers' NCAC-best 16th since joining the conference in 1989.

The set scores against Denison were 25-13, 25-12, 25-12. The Tigers started fast and finished strong in each of the three sets, running their streak to 10 straight wins and 30 straight sets without a loss.

Sophomore Jessie Batanian (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame) led the Tigers' offense with 10 kills and a .643 attack percentage, while junior Kimmie Dyer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) also contributed 10 kills on a .280 attack percentage. Junior Miranda Sagle (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) led the defense with five blocks, and senior setter Amy Cox (Newark, Ohio/Catholic) continued her stellar play with 33 assists.
