Hiram Sweeps Wooster In NCAC Tournament Semifinals

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Hiram Terriers advanced to their eighth straight North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament championship match after posting a convincing 3-0 win over the Wooster Scots.

The Terriers, seeded second after posting a 14-2 NCAC record in 2009, advanced to face top-seeded host Wittenberg at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Hiram improved to 22-9 overall on the campaign, while gaining a shot at the Terriers' second conference tournament championship. Wooster, seeded No. 3, saw its season end at 21-9 overall and 12-4 in the NCAC.

Hiram took control of the match midway through the first set and never looked back. The Terriers' defense was the key, led by Shaina Bryan with 28 digs and Charley McQueary with 30 digs, part of 100 digs for Hiram in the match, compared to 80 for Wooster.

As a result, the Scots managed an attack percentage of .000 (21 kills and 21 errors in 151 total attempts), compared to .164 for Hiram (37 kills and 14 errors in 140 total attempts). Wooster played some outstanding defense of its own, led by Kelley Johnson, who finished with a tournament-high 33 digs.

Hiram's offense was sparked by Randa Jackson, who finished with nine kills and a .286 attack percentage, Shaina Bryan with eight kills and Andrea Kaminsky with seven kills and a match-high .375 attack percentage. Wooster was paced by KateLynn Riley with nine kills.
