Tigers Finish Strong in Three-Set Sweep of Earlham

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - In each of their three sets against a pesky Earlham squad, the Tigers finished on a strong run to close the door on their NCAC foe, as the Tigers moved to 7-0 in NCAC with a 3-0 win over the Quakers. The Tigers took set one 25-17, before cruising in set two 25-7, then wrapped up the match with a 25-18 win in the third set.

Strong individual performances came from the frontline tandem of freshman outside hitters Christine Simpson (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and Kimmie Dyer (Copley, Ohio/Copley), who both accounted for five kills on the night. Also with a strong night on the front line was freshman middle hitter Miranda Sagle (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee), who collected a pair of blocks.

As for the Tiger back line, junior defensive specialist Laura Schumaker (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) provided 15 digs on the night to help send the Tigers to their 19th win in 2008.

Another NCAC opponent visits Pam Evans Smith Arena Friday, Oct. 10, as Denison comes calling for a 7 p.m. opening serve.
