The four teams representing the state of Ohio dominated the first-ever Border Battle, winning 14 of the 16 matches played over two days in the Wittenberg University HPER Center.
The host Tigers, ranked No. 3 in the nation, finished a perfect 4-0, winning all 12 games in their four matches against Alma, Calvin, Kalamazoo and Hope. Also finishing with a perfect 4-0 record, albeit by a much more arduous route, were the Mount St. Joseph Lions. MSJ was pushed to five games by Alma on Friday and Hope on Saturday.
Ohio Northern and Hiram each finished with 3-1 records in the tournament. The only Michigan wins were recorded by Hope in the first match of the weekend over Hiram and by Calvin in a four-game upset win over Ohio Northern on Saturday.
