Tigers Defeat Baldwin-Wallace in Wittenberg Fall Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Baldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jackets have been making some waves in the Ohio Athletic Conference this year, but the Wittenberg Tigers cooled them off with a 3-0 win in the third match for both teams in the Wittenberg Fall Classic.

Wittenberg, ranked sixth in the nation and first in the region, improved to 26-4 on the 2005 season. The Tigers swept the three games in surprisingly comfortable fashion, 30-20, 30-23, 30-18.

The Tigers put three players in double figures offensively, led by sophomore Jan Kehres with 13 kills. Senior Linda Young and freshman Jackie Williams each finished with 11 kills, with Williams posting another outstanding attack percentage of .476.

Defensively, freshman libero Laura Fender led the way with 32 digs, followed by Kehres with 23 and sophomore Emily Bell with 14. The sophomore setting duo of Ashley Anderson and Sarah Matesich finished with 40 assists, an even 20 for each.
