Wittenberg Tops Meredith At Emory Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Wittenberg Tigers ascended to the No. 1 position in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for the first time this week, and in their first outing as the top-ranked team in NCAA Division III the Tigers backed it up with a 3-0 win over Meredith in the first match of the Emory Tournament. The game scores were 30-18, 30-14, 30-20.

The Tigers spread things around offensively and got everybody into the act. Junior Linda Young led with 11 kills, followed by freshman Jan Kehres and sophomore Heather Kelly with 10 kills each and freshman Lindsey Penrod with seven kills. On defense, the Tigers got 27 digs from senior libero Emilie Schmid and a combined 31 digs from the combination of senior Aubrey Anderson and Kehres.

The Tigers improved to 25-1 overall on the season with the win, with three matches still ahead in the Emory Tournament.
