Tigers Finish Perfect Regular Season at Home With Victory Over Muskingum

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers capped off another strong regular season with an easy 3-0 victory over Muskingum. The win moved the second-ranked Tigers to 31-2 on the season and a perfect 14-0 at home. The victory also wrapped up the Tigers' sixth tournament championship of the season.

Wittenberg continued its dominance of Ohio Athletic Conference foes, defeating the third member of that conference this weekend alone. The Tigers won the match with ease, and they once again prevented their opponent from winning a single game, recording the win by scores of 30-17, 30-23, 30-16. The Tigers were led by freshman Emily Bell, as she posted a match-high 10 kills and five blocks. Junior Emily Dixon was also a big contributer, finishing with nine kills. Senior libero Emilie Schmid continued to add to her record-breaking dig mark as she posted a tournament-high 41 digs. Freshman Jan Kehres turned in another wonderful performance and was rewarded with Wittenberg Invitational III All-Tournament team recognition. It was the first time in her young career that she has received such an honor.

With four convincing wins at home this weekend, the Tigers have momentum and are poised to defend their North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament crown next weekend. By sweeping their NCAC foes in the regular season, the Tigers have earned the right to play at home as they go for an unprecedented eighth straight NCAC Tournament Championship. The Tigers will open up play against fourth-seeded Denison University at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5. The winner of that match will then meet the winner of the second-seeded Hiram and third-seeded Wooster match on Saturday to determine the NCAC champion.
