Tigers Roll, Remain Unbeaten At Home

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers continued to push other teams around with a seemingly easy victory over a solid Calvin team. Once again the Tigers proved up to the challenge, winning the match with scores of 30-25, 30-26 and 30-27. The win moved the No. 2-ranked Tigers to 12-1 on the season and 2-0 in the tournament.

The Wittenberg Tigers were fueled by some familiar names in the nightcap. The super seniors were everything they are hyped up to be, and then some. Senior Monica McDonald backed up her first match statistics with even more impressive numbers in the second as she finished with a team high 15 kills and 13 digs. Senior Sarah Yuskewich continued to add to her record-breaking assist numbers with a match high 48 assists. Seniors Kristin Fox, 12 kills, and Emilie Schmid, 24 digs, also did their part in the winning effort, while freshman Emily Bell played what might have been the best match of her young career, giving the Tigers 13 kills, 13 digs and four service aces.

The win sets the stage for a huge match-up in the second day of the tournament. The Tigers will face off against Great Lakes Region foe and No. 7-ranked Ohio Northern tomorrow afternoon at 11:30 a.m. in the HPER Center.
