3-0 (30-28, 30-27, 30-21) - Box Score

A day after pulling off the first upset of the 2002 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament, the No. 6 seed Kalamazoo Hornets, champions of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, couldn't repeat the feat, falling 3-0 to eighth-ranked and No. 2 seed Mount St. Joseph. The win advanced the Lions to the Great Lakes Regional championship game for a third straight year, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal match between Wittenberg and Ohio Northern.

Mount St. Joseph didn't have a single player finish with a negative attack percentage and spread the offensive opportunities around to seven different players who had at least two kills each. Leading the way were Jayne Kemphaus and Tammi Toney with 12 kills each, while Meghan Meador and Molly Middendorf distributed 28 and 16 assists respectively. Stacie Dirr chipped in with 18 digs, Ginny Thomas had three solo blocks and Tiffany Norwell and Toney added three block assists.

Kalamazoo had its opportunities, especially in the opening two games as the Hornets raced out to early leads. Four players finished in double digits for kills, including Leah Hays with 15 and Anny Price, Megan Erskine and Emily Trahan with 10 apiece. Trahan finished with 36 assists and Carrie Brankiewicz led three players in double figures for digs with 19.
