2018 NCAC Outdoor Championships Preview

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's and women's track and field team will compete in the 2018 NCAC Championships from Allegheny College on Friday and Saturday, May 4-5. The Tigers will head into the weekend projected to finish third in the men's team competition and sixth in the women's side.

 

The first day of competition will start off will be loaded with field events, as Wittenberg returns the 2017 shot put winner in D'Anthony Dorsey after posting a throw of 49'04.50". Dorsey comes off a successful indoor season, with a third-place finish in the hammer throw, along with breaking his own school record from the year before at the NCAC Championship meet.  Senior Anissa Dann has had an exciting run-up to the NCAC meet, posting back-to-back third-place finishes in the hammer throw at the Kenyon Spring Invitational and then the Big Red Invitational.

 

As the competition heats up on the track, Tyler Gittins will look to capture his second NCAC 400m hurdles medal of his career. Gittins has already posted an NCAA qualifying time at the Jesse Owens Classic with a third-place finish in a time of 52.63. Wittenberg will look for success across the board in the hurdles competition, as Ryelee Clary currently has the top time in the NCAC in the 100m hurdles at 15.30. Wittenberg will look for points in the mid-distance competition, as Alexis Gray has multiple top finishes on the season and is has a seeded time of 2:21.89 in the 800m run. Kenny Mayes will take part in the 800m run, coming in with a best time of 1:58. 23. Charles Rodeheffer will look secure some points for the Tigers as he will compete in both the 5000 and 10000-meter run.
