Tigers Post Middle Of The Pack Finish At Kenyon Invitational

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's and women's track and field teams took a limited number of student-athletes to the Kenyon Invitational but still turned in a pair of strong finishes.

The Tiger men finished sixth out of 14 teams entered in the competition with 62 points, while the Tiger women placed eighth out of 13 with 52 points. Penn St.-Behrend won the men's competition with 117.5 points and Ohio Wesleyan captured the top spot on the women's side with 115 points.

A trio of Tigers earned first-place finishes individually. For the men, sophomore Laike Wallace (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) crossed the finish line ahead of the pack in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.70, nearly one second ahead of his closest competitor, and sophomore Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) took the top spot in the long jump with a mark of 7.05 meters. For the women, it was sophomore Becah Delp (York, Pa./Eastern York) with a blue ribbon as she topped the field in the long jump with a mark of 5.21 meters.

Delp also scored with a sixth-place finish in the high jump, one spot ahead of senior teammate Angela Roll (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto). Also of note for the Tiger women, sophomore Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash, freshman Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) contributed a sixth-place finish in the 200, freshman Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights) placed fourth in the 400, sophomore Jordan Crow (North Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) took third in the 400-meter hurdles, junior Jeanette Klamfoth (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, and freshman Sage Pence (Three Rivers, Mich./Centreville) placed seventh in the discus.

Wallace added a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, while Melsop went on to place seventh in the 100-meter dash and second in the triple jump. Also of note, freshman Jonathan Osman (Troy, Ohio/Troy) took third place in the 5000-meter run, senior Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County) placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase, freshman Blake Nelson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) claimed seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase, freshman Michael Dureska (Quincy, Ill./Quincy) checked in eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase, and sophomore Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) took fourth in the long jump and the triple jump.
