SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg junior Caroline Sproule (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) has been recognized in the latest NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Regional Rankings, which were released on April 15.

Sproule is ranked among the top eight singles players in Region 5 this week with Carnegie Mellon's Danna Taylor, Divya Venkatarama and Sarah Yang; Case Western Reserve's Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey; and Kenyon's Allaire Berl and Eleni Lazaridou.

"Caroline earning this ranking is a testament to how hard she has worked over these last months," Wittenberg women's tennis head coach Jacob Rankin said. "At Witt, we've been overlooked a few times in terms of rankings, and she has come in with a chip on her shoulder and has proven herself over and over. I'm proud of her and our team overall and can't wait to finish strong this season."

Sproule, who was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 27, currently boasts an 18-8 overall record, including 10-3 in singles play and 8-5 in doubles. She is 9-3 at No. 1 singles and 1-0 at No. 2 singles and has played exclusively at No. 1 doubles.

As a sophomore last season, Sproule was named to the All-NCAC Singles Second Team after posting a 10-8 record at Nos. 1 and 2 and was an All-NCAC Doubles First Team selection with a 14-6 record at No. 1.

With three games remaining on their regular-season schedule, the Tigers are currently 10-4 overall and in fourth place in the NCAC standings with a 1-2 conference mark. They return to action on Saturday at NCAC foe Oberlin at 3 p.m.
