Springfield, Ohio Freshman Claire Stechow combined for a 2-0 record in her first career home tennis match at the Albright Tennis Complex, but it wasn't enough as Wittenberg dropped a 6-3 decision against local foe Otterbein on Friday afternoon. The loss sets the Tigers back to 0-2 on the young season, but they will be right back in action tomorrow (9/14) afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. home match against IU-East from the NAIA.

Who Stood Out

Stechhow and junior Kathleen McGuff got things going in the right direction for the Tigers as they opened the match with an 8-4 win in the second doubles flight; however, the Cardinals took the remaining two doubles flights to take a 2-1 lead into singles action.

While Otterbein did clinch the team win in the singles portion of the match, junior Harunya Ravindran battled for the Tigers first singles win, a hard-fought 6-2, 7-6 victory over Makayla Sutter in the second flight. Despite the team portion of the match being clinched, Stechow showed grit and determination in her fourth singles flight as she capped off the night with a thrilling 6-0, 1-6, 7-5 win over Kristen Zink.
