Indianapolis, Indiana – After entering the 2019 NCAC Women's Tennis Tournament as the fifth seed, the Wittenberg University Women's Tennis team finished sixth overall in the eight-team tournament after dropping a 5-1 decision against sixth-seeded Wooster on Saturday morning in the fifth-place match at North Central High School in Indianapolis.

The Tigers, who finished the 2018-19 season with an overall record of 8-10, posted their best finish at the NCAC Tournament since also finishing sixth overall at the 2012 Championships.

Who Stood Out

While the final score was 5-1 in favor of the Fighting Scots, it was not at all indicative of how close the match really was as two of the three doubles flights went to the tiebreaker.

In the top doubles flight, the tandem of junior Sarah Gallup and sophomore Harunya Ravindran suffered a narrow 8-7 (7-2) setback against Qingyue Li and Shannon Sertz, while the senior duo of Carli Milano and Alivia Livesay dropped even more of a heartbreaker with an 8-7 (8-6) loss against Laura Haley and Sarah Duran.

Despite entering singles play down 3-0, the Tigers refused to give in as Ravindran picked up a point with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Haley in the fourth flight. However, the Scots were able to secure the match with wins in the third and sixth singles flights. In the third flight, Livesay dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision against Sertz, while sophomore Kathleen McGuff lost a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) match in the sixth flight.
