Delaware, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Women's Tennis team jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles competition, but Ohio Wesleyan managed to win four of the six singles decisions to hand the Tigers a 5-4 loss in their first NCAC West match of the season. Wittenberg now sits at 5-3 overall on the year, with a mark of 0-1 in NCAC West play.

Who Stood Out

The Tigers built their early 2-1 advantage off a pair of wins in the second and third doubles flights, with junior Sarah Galup and sophomore Harunya Ravindran winning 8-3 in the second flight, and the tandem of sophomore Kathleen McGuff and freshman Sarah Wilke notching an 8-2 win in the third position.

The Tigers did pick up two additional points in singles action, with Gallup topping Meryl Reams 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in the second flight and Wilke earning a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win over Sydney Simmons in the fifth spot. The Tigers nearly got the match-clinching point in the fourth flight as Ravindran battled back but ultimately dropped a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 decision against Diamond Person.
