SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers dominated in their 2015-16 season home opener with an 8-1 victory over Indiana University-East.

The win evened Wittenberg's record at 1-1 on the season. After rain caused multiple postponements through the month of September, the Tigers will look to build on the momentum gained with road trips to Cedarville on Oct. 8 and Oberlin on Oct. 10.

Wittenberg jumped on top immediately against the Red Wolves, sweeping the three doubles matches. The highlight came at the No. 2 position as freshmen Carli Milano (Beavercreek, Ohio/Carroll) and Nora Jacobson (Easton, Md./Easton) won by an 8-0 count.

In singles, the Tigers added five more wins, including a pair by 6-0, 6-0 scores by sophomore Rayika Karachiwalla (Pune, India/International Baccalaureate) at No. 1 and freshman Alivia Livesay (Tryon, NC/Polk County) at No. 3. Karachiwalla and Livesay had combined to win at No. 1 doubles previously.

Milano added a win at No. 2 singles, as did freshman Sarah Frisch (Crescent Springs, Ky./Notre Dame) at No. 4 and junior Parisa Bennett (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) at No. 5. Freshman Haley Jackson (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) teamed up with junior Riley Alexander (Zionsville, Ind./University) to picked up the final Wittenberg point at No. 3 doubles by a narrow 9-7 score.
