Tigers Open Second Half Of Season With Loss To St. Mary's

DAYTON, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's tennis team kicked off the second half of the 2014-15 season with a 9-0 loss to St. Mary's (Ind.) in a match played at Dayton Center Courts.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-1 on the season, while St. Mary's improved to 2-2.

The match started with a dominating performance by St. Mary's in the doubles competition, as Wittenberg won just two games in three matches.

In singles, the Tigers battled back behind freshman Rayika Karachiwalla (Pune, India/International Baccalaureate (NY)), who suffered a narrow 6-4, 7-5 defeat at the No. 1 position. Senior Georgia Bennett (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) also competed well at No. 2 before losing 6-4, 6-2.
