Tigers Open Spring Break Trip With Win Over Emory & Henry

HILTON HEAD, SC - The Wittenberg Tigers kicked off Spring Break in the best way possible with a 7-2 victory over Emory & Henry.

The win moved Wittenberg to 3-1 on the 2013-14 season. Emory & Henry fell to 6-2.

The Tigers started the match off with a double sweep. Sophomores Megan McDermott (Wheeling, W.Va./The Linsley School) and Jaimie Whaley (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) were victorious at the No. 1 position, while freshmen Olivia Underwood (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Marian) and Chelsea Reeder (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) won at No. 2. Wittenberg picked up a default win at No. 3.

In singles, the Tigers dropped the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions. McDermott answered with a three-set victory at No. 3 singles and senior Andrea Gaietto (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) added a 6-0, 6-1 domination at No. 4. Wittenberg then picked up two default wins to round out the singles competition.
