Tigers Stay Unbeaten With 8-1 Win At Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers captured a convincing 8-1 win over host Capital in non-conference women's tennis action.

The Tigers improved to 2-0 in the fall season, while Capital fell to 0-2.

Wittenberg opened with two wins in three hard-fought doubles matches. The freshman tandem of Olivia Underwood (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Marian) and Chelsea Reeder (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) led off with an 8-3 decision at No. 1 and senior Andrea Gaietto (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) paired with sophomore Morgan McDermott (Wheeling, W.Va./The Linsley School) combined to claim a narrow 9-7 win at No. 3.

In singles, Wittenberg swept all six matches. Underwood won at No. 1, followed by Reeder at No. 2, McDermott at No. 3, Gaietto at No. 4, junior Lexi Garza (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) at No. 5 and sophomore Jaimie Whaley (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) at No. 6.
