SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's tennis team dropped to 4-7 on the 2012-13 season with a 7-2 home defeat against neighboring rival Cedarville.

The Yellow Jackets, a scholarship program that is a member of NCAA Division II, improved to 12-6 on the season. The Tigers are next scheduled to open North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division action on Saturday, April 13, with a home match against nationally ranked DePauw.

Cedarville won two of three in the doubles portion of the match, with Wittenberg's lone breakthrough coming at the No. 1 position where freshman Jaimie Whaley (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) paired with senior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) for a 9-7 victory.

In singles, Wittenberg's win came at the No. 2 spot. That's where freshman Morgan McDermott (Wheeling, W.Va./The Linsley School) picked up a 7-5, 6-3 decision.
