Tiger Swimming Takes On Manchester Dual & Wilmington Double Dual To Open Season

The Wittenberg Swim and Dive team returned to the water over the weekend, traveling to Manchester University for a dual meet with the Spartans on Friday night. The Tigers returned to action on Saturday afternoon at the Wilmington Double Dual, competing against Transylvania University and the host Quakers of Wilmington.

Opening the season on Friday night, the Wittenberg men's side gathered 66 points, falling 109-66. On the women's side, the Tigers fell 102-54. Wittenberg saw multiple event wins on the evening, including a lifetime best in the women's 1000-yard freestyle from Addy Payne with a time of 12:30.99.

MANCHESTER DUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Quaid O'Brien took first in the men's 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:03.39.
  • Mackenzie Schuld secured the first-place win in the women's 200-free in a time of 1:55.58.
  • Schuld tabbed her second event win in the 200-yard IM, posting a time of 2:27.34.
  • Zach Parkman took the top spot in the men's 200-yard IM, touching the wall in a time of 2:06.37.
  • Payne captured her second collegiate win and second of the day, in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:15.62.
  • Parkman secured his second win of the day, helping sweep the 100-yard butterfly for Wittenberg, with a time of 54.45.
  • Schuld was back in the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:05.01.
  • Wittenberg was back for their third event sweep of the evening in the 500-yard free. With event wins by Payne in a time of 6:12.68 for her third of the night, and O'Brien posting a time of 5:20.23, for his second of the evening.
  • Mason Steen captured his first win as a Tiger, in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:05.69.

WILMINGTON DOUBLE DUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Schuld picked up the first win of the day for Wittenberg in the 800-meter freestyle, posting a time of 10:10.58 and beating her next closest opponent by over a minute.
  • Parkman won a 800-meter nail-biter of a freestyle, capturing a first-place win in a time of 9:17.85.
  • Payne secured a Wittenberg win in the 200-meter butterfly, with a time of 3:06.44.
  • Parkman picked up his second event win of the afternoon, leading the pack in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:17.03.
  • Steen secured a second-place finish in the 100-meter free, with a time of 57.17, less than a full second off the top spot at 56.50.
  • Schuld was back in winning position in the 200-meter freestyle, finishing in a time of 2:38.95.
  • Steen earned his second second-place finish of the afternoon, with a time of 2:43.59, in the 200-meter backstroke, finishing fractions of a second off the leader in a time of 2:43.48.
  • Payne secured the first-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 5:34.59.
  • Picking up her third win of the afternoon, Schuld took the top spot in the 100-meter butterfly, finishing in a time of 1:13.06.
  • Parkman took second-place in the men's 100-meter butterfly, posting a final time of 1:00.17.
