Tigers Take On Transylvania Tri Meet

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger swim and dive team competed and the Transylvania Tri-Meet over the weekend, returning to the water to swim against the Quakers from Wilmington College and host Transylvania. Wittenberg captured 191 and 171 points as a team in the combined competition earning the third-place finish. The Tigers fell to Wilmington College 293 to 191 and host Transylvania 327 to 171. Emma Hellman took the top spot for the Tigers, completing a new Wittenberg record dive from the 3m board, earning a score of 265.15. Hellman would claim another first-place finish in the 1m diving competition, finishing with a score of 260.05.

Abby Dunasky earned a first-place finish in the 1000 freestyle, clocking a time of 11:52.12. Mackenzie Schuld took the top spot in the 200 freestyle with a final time of 2:05.35. Michelle Murray earned a top five finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11.17. Dunasky claimed another top five finish for the Tigers, this time coming in the 100 backstroke, stopping the clock in a time of 1:22.90. The Tigers had two top five finishers in the 50 freestyle with Bridge Logan in a time of 26.22, Carissa Schroeder earned a fifth-place finish in a time of 29.57. Logan returned to take second in the 100 freestyle in a time of 57.37. Murray claimed a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke, posting a time 2:38.75. Dunasky took another top finish in the 500 freestyle, stopping the clock in a time of 5:54.29. Schuld returned to the top of the leaderboard with a time of 1:04.39 in the 100 butterfly. Schuld capped off her day with a win in the 200 IM winning the race in a time of 2:23.78.

The Tigers finished back-to-back in the men's 200 freestyle with Quaid O'Brien and Anthony Petruzzi taking the third and fourth spot at 2:00.95 and 2:04.95. Wittenberg would earn another close finish, coming in the 100 breaststroke, with Parker Roach finishing second at 1:08.84 and Cody Schimmel taking a third-place finish at 1:09.83. Zach Parkman earned a first-place finish for the Tigers in the 200 butterfly, clocking a time of 2:01.03. Petruzzi led the way in the 200 breststroke with a time of 2:28.18. Roach was close behind, earning a third-place finish in a time of 2:38.74. Taking third and fifth in the 500 freestyle, Wittenberg's O'Brien clocked a time of 5:21.10; Doug Heighton earned his first top five finish of the day with a 6:00.60 time. Parkman helped secure the sweep of 100 butterfly for the Tigers, topping the event in a time of 54.27.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 6 traveling to Danville, Kentucky to compete against Centre College.
