Tigers Take On Oberlin Invitational

Oberlin, OH – Both the Wittenberg men's and women's swim teams traveled north to the Oberlin College Invitational over the weekend, competing in the three-day 12 team competition. Both men's and women's teams took 10th place team finishes, as the women collected 242 points with the men taking 317.5 points.

Wittenberg senior Brad Barren took 11th place in the 100-yard Butterfly, qualifying for the finals with a prelim time of 54.49. Barren stopped the clock in the final with a time of 54.12. Sophomore Anthony Petruzzi earned a B Final spot in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.54. Petruzzi touched the wall in a time of 4:30.97, claiming a 15th place finish in the event. The Wittenberg men's 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Barren, Lukas Lindberg, Petruzzi, and Sam Dudley took 9th place with a time of 3:23.79.

The Wittenberg women were led by senior Marita Banta-Long, taking the top spot in the 100-yard Butterfly C Final, stopping the clock in a time of 1:02.14. Bridget Logan and Abby Dunasky earned a spot in the 200-yard Freestyle C Final, with Logan stopping the clock with a time of 2:06.43 in the final heat, with Dunasky taking a time of 2:08.32. The Wittenberg women's 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Logan, Clair Bergefurd, Dunasky and Banta-Long would also claim a 9th place finish with a time of 3:53.33.

Wittenberg will return to the water on December 7-8, traveling to Transylvania University for a two-day meet from Lexington, KY.
