Moran Named As Interim S&D Coach

Springfield, OH – Wittenberg University has named Noah Moran, J.D., as the interim head coach of the men’s & women’s swimming and diving programs, it was announced by Director of Athletics & Recreation, Dr. Gary Williams, on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

Moran comes to Wittenberg after serving in the same position at NCAA Division II member Tiffin University from 2015-18. Prior to his head coaching stint at Tiffin, Moran was also the head coach for the Turkish Swimming Federation from August 2014 to March of 2015.

“We are very excited that Noah has agreed to serve as our interim coach.  Noah brings our team and program experiences at many different competitive levels and we all felt he was a great fit to help us through this transition,” said Dr. Williams. “I also want to publicly thank Laura Harting and Sivan Pardon for leading our team during these past two weeks and to also acknowledge the men and women on our team who have come to practice each day with an amazing attitude.  The coaches and athletes have truly showed all of us what it means to “Tiger Up” and I am so proud of each and every one of them.  With Noah’s arrival to practice today, it is my sincere hope that we can set all of them up for tremendous success and I look forward to seeing this team continue to grow in and out of the pool this season.”

During his time at the helm of the Tiffin program, Moran helped lead five swimmers to qualify for the NCAA Div. II Swimming & Diving Championships and also implemented new training methods that led to student-athletes recording 34 new school records in just three seasons.

Although new to Div. III, Moran is no stranger to the collegiate swimming community as he also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Eastern Michigan University, for a 15-year stretch. He first served in a voluntary role from 1998-2006, before being named as the assistant coach from October of 2006 to August of 2013.

In addition to holding a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University in Political Science and Communications, Moran also received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 2003.
