Springfield, Ohio- The Wittenberg University men's and women's swimming & diving teams opened the home slate of the 2018-19 schedule on Friday (10/26) night against league-rival Ohio Wesleyan University. The men's team dropped their duo meet by a score of 135-89, while the women's squad suffered a 165-72 loss at the hands of the Battling Bishops. 

night with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay as the team of freshman Anthony Petruzzi, junior Nick Angeli, Curry and Gregory III reached the wall with a time of 1:33.06. 

On the women's side, freshman Abigail Dunasky was a double winner in a pair of distance events, opening her night by posting a winning time of 5:00.44 in the 400 IM, which was just two-tenths of a second faster than OWU's Meredith Richters. Dunasky then returned to the pool later in the evening and crushed the competition in the women's 500 free with a winning time of 5:34.11. Junior Marita Banta-Long also had a solid night between the lane lines for the Tigers, finishing second individually in both the 200 free (2:05.69) and 100 fly (1:03.09), while senior Morgan Siefert also added a second-place finish for the women's squad in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:53.71. The women's team also bookended the night with a pair of second-place relay finishes, starting with the team of freshman Jessica Crowder, junior Annelise Gibson, Banta-Long and junior Claire Bergefurd posting a time of 1:57.80 in the 200 medley relay. Finally, the women's team wrapped up the night with the team of freshman Sophia Spriggs, sophomore Breann Webb, freshman Emma Menjivar and Dunasky finishing second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:58.45.

For the men, the Tigers opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay as the team of sophomore Connor Flanagan, freshman Ben Hongell, sophomore Trey Gregory III and junior Brad Barren reached the wall first in a time of 1:41.48. Four different men's swimmers then followed suit with individual event victories, starting with Hongell in the 200 free with a winning time of 1:49.07. Barren then topped the field in the men's 50 free with a time of 22.57, while Gregory III outpaced the field in the 100 fly (52.88) and freshman Noah Curry added the final men's victory of the night in the 100 free with a time of 49.15. In addition, Curry, Flanagan and Hongell all added second-places on the night in the 50 free (22.78), 100 back (1:00.24) and 100 breast (1:03.43), respectively. The men's team closed out the

Wittenberg will open the November portion of its schedule next Saturday (11/3) with a tri-meet with Wilmington College and Transylvania University at Wilmington at 1:00 p.m.
