Tigers Split Double Dual Down The Middle, Wins Over Franklin, Losses To Depauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Wittenberg swimming and diving teams participated in their first double dual meet of the season with a pair of wins against Franklin and two losses to DePauw. The men defeated Franklin 246-30 and fell to DePauw 200-98, while the women took down Franklin231-26, but were defeated by DePauw 194-99.

Freshman Blake Bosworth (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) was the first Tiger man with a win, finishing first in the 1,000 free (10:16.84). Junior diver Gus Appenbrink (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) again had a strong performance in the diving pool, with a first-place finish in the one-meter event and second in the three-meter version.

Junior Teddy Hutchinson (Sudbury, Mass./Sudbury-Lincoln Regional) took home first-prize in the 200 back (2:02.76), and the men's meet was capped by a win in the 100 fly by senior Zach Stewart (Vincennes, Ind./Lincoln) (54.68).

The women saw back-to-back Tiger first-placers in the 200 fly and 50 free thanks to junior Rachel Leeds (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) and sophomore Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier), respectively (2:28.31 and 25.72).

Senior Megan Shubitowski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) swept the diving events, winning the three-meter contest by a 30-point margin and the one-meter version by a margin of 15.

Sophomore Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) picked up a win in the 100 fly (102.96) to wrap up the meet for the women.

The Tigers return to the HPER Center Natatorium for a 1 p.m. double dual meet hosting Wilmington and Transylvania on Saturday, Nov. 13.
