Tigers Close Home Slate Versus Denison

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg swimming and diving teams swam in their last home event of the 2009-10 season Friday night against Denison, honoring the collegiate careers of six men and seven women with senior night festivities.

In the meet, the Tiger men fell to the Big Red by a 172-118 score, while the women finished with a similar deficit of 173-117. The men are now 7-2 in dual meets, while the women are 5-4.

The Tiger men's team's six seniors include Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood), Brandon Bock (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan), Pat Deering (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston), Matt Erenpreiss (Columbus, Ohio/Centennial), Bobby Ritzi (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek), and Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Senior).

The women's team includes seniors Adeline Brym (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington), Megan Bundy (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield), Emily Ellerman (Littleton, Co./Littleton), Emily Elliot (Cincinnati, Ohio/Clark Montessori), Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Insitute), Amy Prugh (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), and Emily Roesch (Oakland, Mich./Lake Orion).

In the women's events, sophomore Keaton Hannon (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh) led with a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly and a second-place showing in the 200 fly. Junior diver Megan Shubitowski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) took second from both the one-meter and three-meter boards. Adeline Brym placed first in the 500 freestyle and Emily Roesch was second in the 1000 freestyle.

The men received two first-place finishes from Neil Anderson in the 200 butterfly and the 500 freestyle, and he led the 400 freestyle relay team of Taylor Smith, Brandon Bock and Bobby Ritzi to a first-place finish as well. Junior Chris Culkin (Novi, Mich./Northville) turned in a second-place showing in the 1000 freestyle.

The Tigers hit the road tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 16, for a 1 p.m. meet at North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Hiram.
