Tigers Sweep Past Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Wittenberg swimming & diving teams earned convincing wins over Wilmington Saturday on both the men's and women's sides, the men topping the Quakers by a 122-75 margin and the women taking home a 126-71 victory. The men improved to 4-1 in dual meet action while the women boast a 3-2 record.

Wittenberg took first place in 16 of the 22 events, and cleaned up with 16 second-place finishes, collecting simultaneous first and second place finishes in 15 events.

For the women, eight different swimmers registered first-place finishes in the meet, including two each for freshman Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) (200 medley relay, 50 free), junior Katie Sbrocco (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) (200 medley relay, 100 breaststroke), senior Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Institute) (200 medley relay, 200 free), and sophomore Rachel Lee (Hickory, NC/Hickory) (100 and 200 free).

Also turning in first place finishes for the women were sophomore Cecilia Wille (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) (200 medley relay), senior Emily Roesch (Oakland, Mich./Lake Orion) (400 IM) and freshman Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) (200 fly).

For the men, sophomore Ted Hutchinson (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) and junior Zach Stewart (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) led with two first-place finishes each. Hutchinson touched first in the 200 butterfly and the 200 medley relay, while Stewart took top honors in the 200 free and as part of the same 200 medley relay team.

Seven more Tiger men added one first-place finish each, including sophomore Mickey Murphy (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) (800 free), senior Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) (200 medley relay), junior Phil Bambach (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) (400 IM), junior Chris Culkin (Novi, Mich./Northville) (100 free), sophomore Matt Parker (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) (200 back) and freshman Sam Archibald (Darien, Conn./Darien) (400 free).

Both teams swim again on Friday, Nov. 20, hosting Ohio Northern at 6:30 p.m. in the HPER Center Natatorium.
