Wittenberg Sweeps Aside Wilmington In Dual Meet

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers continued their strong start to the 2007-08 season with wins for both men and women over Wilmington on Saturday. Highlights were many as the teams swam well against a strong Wilmington crew, pushing the men to an even 3-3 and the women to 4-1.

The teams started by reeling off first-place finishes in the first eight events of the afternoon. Wilmington pushed at the end to win the last five events, but it was not enough for the Quakers to overcome the Tigers, who won 15 of 22 events overall.

Highlights for the men included strong trips through the water from Matt Smith (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) (800 free), Phil Bambach (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) (200 free), Danny Nicholas (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) (200 individual medley), and Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) (100 free). The women received strong swims from Emily Roesch (Oakland, Mich./Lake Orion) (200 free), Amy Prugh (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) (200 fly), Kaitlin Clark (Wakeman, Ohio/Firelands) (100 free), and Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Institute) (400 free).

Next weekend both crews will travel to the DePauw Invitational.
