Matt Tipton joined the Wittenberg women's soccer coaching staff in 2013. He will work primarily with the team's goalkeepers.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Tipton grew up in Stow, Ohio, before attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He competed for the club rugby team at the university, the Iron Eagles, a subsidiary of the Daytona Beach Rugby Coconuts, and helped the club to a 2005 Florida Cup Championship, a 2006 National Championship Elite 8 appearance and a top 10 ranking nationally.

Tipton earned his bachelor’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in aviation business administration in 2008, graduating summa cum laude. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Tipton attended the University of Dayton School of Law and received his juris doctor in 2011, graduating magna cum laude. He currently practices with the law firm Martin, Folino, Harmon & Stachler, LPA, in Dayton, Ohio.

Tipton served as the goalkeeper coach at Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, Ohio, from 2008–11. He has worked as a goalkeeper coach at the club level since 2011, training goalkeepers of all ages and acting as a guest trainer for local club teams and high schools. Tipton currently serves as a goalkeeper coach with Metro FC.

He resides in Springfield, Ohio, with his wife, Jamie.
