Springfield, OH -- Wittenberg Women's Soccer played their final home match of the regular season, and went out with a bang defeating the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops 4-1. The Tigers showed no mercy, firing off the bat and scoring in the first 10 seconds of the match. Freshman Hannah Heald sent the ball into the back of the net after receiving it from senior Maria Miller at midfield. This carried the momentum for the remainder of the game, the Bishops falling on their heels playing catch up.

The front four for the Tigers were a force against the Bishops, having 11 shots with five on frame. Goal number two came in the 22nd minute by senior Alix Steele on the back side, receiving a through ball from junior Brooke Peters. Heading into halftime, the Tigers led 2-1 coming off the field with as much energy as they started with. Wittenberg would keep the fast pace for the remainder of the game, beating the Bishops down the sidelines and to the 50/50 balls.

Wittenberg worked tirelessly to extend their lead as Peters took advantage of being in the box at the feet of the Bishops' keeper when she bobbled a save from a header that came from sophomore Emma Lindsey. This gave Peters an easy steal to send it into the goal, making it 3-1 in minute 50. The Bishops began to slow and increase the physicality, collecting one yellow card in the 67th minute.

In minute 73 sophomore Paige Kaiser added one more tally to her statline closing out the game 4-1 and making this her third goal of the season. The Tigers maintained dominance for the remainder of the match, sending off their seniors with a win for their final home game of the regular season.

Wittenberg will be traveling to Allegheny for their final match of the regular season. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 30.
