Tigers Victorious After Thrilling Conference Match

Springfield, OH -- It was nothing short of an exhilarating matchup between the Tigers of Wittenberg and the Tigers of DePauw. In the end, it was Wittenberg who powered through for a hard-fought win over DePauw, 2-1. With a long standing North Coast Athletic Conference rivalry, the game started off intense and kept the pace for all 90 minutes. Junior Amy Bidwill led the charge having three of the 15 total shots taken against DePauw.

Senior Sydney Artis took the lead for Wittenberg off of a corner kick from freshman Hannah Heald in the seventh minute of the game. This gave Wittenberg the momentum as they played at a fast pace, and collected five corner kicks. The Wittenberg Tigers were a dominating force on offense, 10 players taking a shot at the net.

Wittenberg and DePauw played physical, but the score stayed at 1-0 until the 74th minute where sophomore Paige Kaiser battled in the box for goal number two, once again assisted by  giving the Tigers a bigger lead of 2-0. However, DePauw scored within the next minute, but Wittenberg was able to spread the field and play in their style, holding DePauw to 2-1, sending them home with a conference match loss.
