Offensive Match Leads to Tiger Victory

Oberlin, OH -- On Homecoming weekend, the Tigers traveled to Oberlin College for a conference matchup against the Yeowomen, where Wittenberg came home victorious with a score of 1-0. The Tigers were led by freshman Hannah Heald who tallied four of the team 15 shots for the evening, and freshman Abby Sphar sealing the deal for the Tigers, scoring in the 43rd minute. Both teams would take their chances on goal, but in the end it was the Tigers adding to their win column. This was Sphar's first collegiate goal.

Keeper Emma Schewe held off the Yeowomen, saving five shots on goal. With senior Maria Miller and the Tiger defense keeping the field short, the Tigers were able to overpower the middle and collect seven shots on goal, including one from Miller. Wittenberg shared the love, where eight Tigers took a chance on the goal, with five players having two or more shots. The Tigers had six total corner kicks, leaving the field with a now record of 5-6-1.

Wittenberg will be back home for their next match versus the Tigers of Depauw on Tuesday, October 12, at 7 p.m.
