Tigers Mark Two Collegiate Firsts in Season Opener

Ada, OH- The Tigers hit the road to open their 2021 campaign against the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern in a non-conference match-up. This is the 23rd time The Tigers have seen action against ONU with the last time being a loss in 2019.

In her fourth season as the Tigers head coach, Katie Robinson, says despite not having a full fall season last year that "we've got some really good talent coming back, we've got great leadership."

Wittenberg senior, Emma Schewe, faced four shots on goal in 110 minutes of play, with one save and one goal against. The Tigers went into the half down 1-0 but were able to rally in the second half with a goal from Paige Kaiser, her first collegiate goal. Assisting Kaiser was Hannah Heald, marking her first collegiate point. Wittenberg and Ohio Northern battled out the rest of the second half to head into overtime. Wittenberg continued to push back against the Polar Bears but were met with an even match which turned into a double overtime situation. After 110 minutes of play the women ended with a tied score of 1-1.
