Women's Soccer Celebrate Senior Day Against Hiram

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's soccer team celebrated the playing careers of six seniors, before taking on the Terriers of Hiram College in their final regular season game. The two sides would battle back and forth for 110 minutes, producing a 0-0 draw after double overtime. Wittenberg had their chances, leading the shot count 22-10 on the evening. The Tigers led in multiple stat categories on the night, as the Tigers had 14 corner kick opportunities compared to the Terriers four. Kelly Corbin kept a clean sheet, making five saves against five shots on goal.

Moving Forward:

The Tigers advance to the NCAC Tournament for the sixth consecutive year, looking to defend their Tournament title as the fourth seed. The Tigers will take on top seed Denison on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 PM. Wittenberg fell to the Big Red earlier this season by a narrow 1-0 margin, after coming off a 3-2 win in the NCAC Tournament in 2017. Each of the past five meetings between Wittenberg and Denison have been separated by a single goal each game.  

To The Seniors:

As a senior class, this class holds an overall record of 37-26-10 and 20-8-3 in NCAC action. With that record they have captured a 2016 NCAC Regular Season Championship, a 2017 NCAC Tournament Championship and participated in the NCAA National Tournament in the past two seasons, advancing to the round of 32 in 2017. Among their success on the field, this Senior Class has been a part of a team that has also received the Team Academic Award in 2016 and 2017.
