Tigers Offset Gators in a Draw

Meadville, Pa. – Women's soccer found balance against the Gators of Allegheny, ending the NCAC match-up in a draw. After 110 minutes of action, the Tigers tallied their third tie of the season on the road during the Saturday afternoon game.

Game Breakdown

The Tigers got the first looks at the net in the fourth and 14th minutes of the game with shots by Taylor Vaughn-Stanton, wide left, and Missy Bernhardt, saved. Emily Wile, meanwhile led the Tigers in shots, who tallied three with one on goal. From the backfield, Maria Miller came through with two shots with one on goal. Bailey Hurley recorded the fourth and final shot on goal for Wittenberg. Ten Tiger soccer players contributed to the 13 shots taken in the afternoon.

The Gators returned the favor, tallying 11 shots in 110 minutes of action. Kelly Corbin collected all minutes in goal for the Tigers, hauling in three saves during that time. Allegheny was unable to capitalize offensively to the credit of  the Wittenberg defense, who were able to hold the home team to two shots on goal in the first half and only one, in the 46th minute, in the second half. Corbin, junior, recorded her fifth appearance of the season in which she did not allow a goal to date this season.

The women's soccer squad returns home for two straight games to bring the regular season to a close. Wittenberg will host Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 24 and will take on the Battling Bishops in an under the lights thriller, with kickoff at 7:00PM.
