Tigers Unable To Hold Off Thomas More

Springfield, Ohio – It was a rematch of the 2017 NCAA Tournament first round, as the Wittenberg women's soccer team hosted the Saints of Thomas More College on Wednesday night from Edwards-Maurer Field. The high-scoring showdown a year ago, which saw the Tigers claim a 3-2 victory in overtime was matched this year by a defensive standoff for over 70-minutes, as Thomas More would tally the lone goal for the 1-0 win.

The two sides would finish the night with nine shots each. Shannon Brueck would lead the offensive effort for the Tigers, rattling off four shots on the night and placing two on frame for Wittenberg. Goalies Kelly Corbin and Emma Schewe would each make two saves against five Thomas More shots on target. Wittenberg would hold a distinct advantage in the corner kick category at 12-4.
