Berea, Ohio – Despite being outshot by a 27-17 margin, the Wittenberg women's soccer team was able to play to a 1-1 tie with Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night at Finnie Stadium. The Tigers now sit at 2-2-1 on the year, with tonight's tie accounting for their first positive result of the season on the road.

How the Tigers Scored

After the two squads played 30 minutes of scoreless action to open the match, the Tigers struck in the 31st minute as senior forward Taylor Vaughn-Stanton sent a stellar pass onto the foot of freshman forward Sydney Weaver for Wittenberg's lone tally of the match.

The Yellow Jackets netted the equalizer midway through the second half as Rachel Bender took a pass from Alex Guido and fired a shot past Wittenberg junior goalie Kelly Corbin in the 66th minute.

Wittenberg senior Shannon Brueck nearly ended the match in the waning moments of the second overtime session, but her rocket shot snuck just over the top of the crossbar in what was ultimately the Tigers' final scoring opportunity of the night.

By the Numbers

While the Yellow Jackets did hold a 10-shot advantage in the match, the Tigers held a 6-3 edge in corner kick opportunities, which included a pair of chances in the second overtime session. Corbin also had a solid night between the pipes for the Tigers, hauling in 14 total saves against 15 shots on goal.

Weaver now leads the Tigers with three goals on the season, while the assist for Vaugh-Stanton drew her even with Weaver for the team lead with two helpers apiece.
