Women's Soccer Posts Second Straight Home Shutout

Springfield, OH- A cold and rainy Saturday afternoon didn't stop the Tigers from taking a 2-0 win over Albion College. The game started out slowly but rounded out with a big finish from the Tigers scoring both of their goals in the second half.

Game Breakdown

The Tigers and the Brits put up a good fight in the first half, looking evenly matched but not budging to let the other score. The first goal of the afternoon was scored by Shannon Brueck and assisted by Missy Bernhardt 16 minutes into the second half.

With five minutes left in the second half, Sydney Weaver scored after taking a shot that pulled the Albion goalie out from between the posts and firing again.

 

The Numbers- Wittenberg beat out Albion in the shots department with Wittenberg taking 23 shots to Albion's one, Wittenberg having 6 fouls to Albion's five and seven corner kicks where Albion took 0.

Wittenberg had one recorded save to the Briton's 12. This is the second clean sheet recorded by Kelly Corbin at Edwards-Maurer Field and her second win in the net for the Tigers.

"After coming off the loss last week we wanted to focus in on the positives and things we do well. We felt like today was the 'Wittenberg Way'. It was tough as nails, patient and organized just like we've been talking about. I'm really proud of the focus and effort from our players," said head coach Katie Robinson
