Witt Women's Soccer Announces 2018 Recruiting Class

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Women's Soccer team welcomes thirteen new faces to the family for the 2018 season as part of this year's 2018 recruiting class.

Alix Steele, a Worthington, Ohio native graduates this year from Thomas Worthington High School.  She completes her high school career as a two-time varsity letter winner in soccer and a three-time varsity letter winner in Track and Field in the pole vault, earning OCC honorable mention and was named a Scholar-Athlete.  Alix plays club soccer for FC614 in Columbus.   

Alix is the daughter of Matt and Lori and has a brother, Cole.

Emily Wile from Dublin, Ohio joins Wittenberg as she concludes her career at Hilliard Davison High School. She played soccer for four years and in 2017 was named to the OCC 1st team and Central District 2nd team.  In 2016, she was a member of the 2016 OCC Championship team.  Emily is an Honor Roll student and plays club soccer for Club Ohio based out of Dublin.

Emily is the daughter of John and Megan and has three sisters, Alivia, Elizabeth, and Anna.

Emma Schewe joins the team from Mason Ohio and will graduate from Mason high school as a four year Honor Roll student.  During her high school soccer career, Emma earned 2nd Team All-GMC honors, Academic All-Southwest honors, and the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Academic Excellence Award.  Her team was the Ohio Division I District Champion.  Emma is a member of the Warren County Soccer Club where she plays on their Elite team.

Emma is the daughter of Ron & Sarah and has a sister, Abbey, and a brother, Cameron.

Maria Miller from New Albany Ohio joins Wittenberg after earning four-year varsity letters for New Albany High School, where she was also 2nd team All-League and Team Captain both her Junior and Senior years.  In her junior year, Miller led her team to an OCC Championship.  Maria will graduate with an Honors Diploma and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Maria is the daughter of Scott and Alison, has a sister, Maddie, and brother, John.

Sydney Weaver comes to the Tigers from Powell, Ohio and will graduate from Olentangy High School.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, maintains a 4.0 GPA, and will graduate with Honors.  On the field, Weaver was a three-year Varsity letter winner and received Honorable Mention in 2015 and 2017.  In 2015, her team was the OCC Conference Champion and were District Champions in 2015, 2016, and 2017, Regional Semifinalists in 2016, and Regional Champions in 2015 and 2017. Weaver is a member of the Classics Eagles Soccer Club in Columbus.

 

Sydney is the daughter of Doug and Stacy and has a brother, Jacob, who attends OSU.

Claire DeWeese joins us from Indiana where she will graduate from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis.  She received High Honor Roll all four years and is a member of the National Honor Society.  At Cathedral, she played soccer for four years and ran track for two.  In 2016, her team won both the City and Sectional Championship and repeated their City Championship in 2017. 

Claire is the daughter of Mike and Christine and has a sister, Catherine and a brother, Mick.

Sydney Artis comes to the Tigers from Hilliard, Ohio where she will graduate from Hilliard Bradley High School.  At Hilliard Bradley, Sydney was an Honor student all four years and a Scholar Athlete from 2014-2017.  Sydney played soccer all four years and in 2014, her team won the OCC League Title.  Sydney has been awarded 1st team All OCC and 3rd team All-District Honors. 

 

Sydney is the daughter of Dale and Carol and has a brother, Cameron, who is a member of the Men's Soccer program at Wittenberg.

Bailey Hurley, a Lewis Center native, graduated in 2017 from Olentangy Orange High School and joins the Tigers as a transfer for the 2018 season.  There she was a member of the track and soccer teams all four years.  In 2016 her soccer team won the OCC.  In 2015, her indoor relay team was a state qualifier, and her outdoor relay team was District Relay Champions, Regional Qualifiers, and OCC Champs.  Off the field, she received the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence and was a National Honor Society Member.  Additionally, she was awarded the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Academic Excellence award in 2016.  She played club for Columbus Crew Juniors.

Bailey is the daughter of Kevin and Kim and has two brothers, Beau and Andrew.

Jess Plesnicar comes to Springfield Ohio from Plainfield, Illinois where she attends Plainfield North High School. At Plainfield, she was a 3-year Varsity Letter Winner.  She plays club soccer for Chicago Inter.

Jess is the daughter of John and Jennifer and has one brother, Josh.

Bella Scarlati, a Downers Grove Illinois native, will graduate from Downers Grove North High School where she was an Honor roll student for four years.  On the field, Bella helped her high school team to a Sectional Championship, a Regional Championship, and a 4th place finish in the State Championships in 2017.  She also ran cross country at Downers Grove.  She plays club for Team Chicago. 

Isabella is the daughter of Steve and Debbie and has a sister Ana and Angelina, and a brother, Louis.

Brynn Hylton joins us from Plainfield, IN where she will graduate from Avon High School.  At Avon, Brynn played soccer for 4 years and was a 3x Sectional Champion, 2x Hoosier Crossroads Conference Champion and an Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Academic All-State recipient.  During her time there, the Orioles amassed a 46-18-8 record.  Bryn is a member of the National Honor Society and was a 3x DECA State Qualifier and a 1x DECA International Qualifier.  Her club team, United Soccer Alliance of Indiana were ISL Premier League Champs in 2017 and were ranked #3 in Indiana by GotSoccer.  

Brynn is the daughter of Greg and Terri and has a sister, Taylor.

Clare Neltner joins us from Pickerington, OH and will graduate from Columbus Academy.  Clare ran track for two years and played soccer for four.  In 2015 & 2017 they were district finalists and in 2016, District Champions.  Clare was a Senior Captain and received 1st team All-League and 3rd Team All-District Honors, as well as Academic All-League honors.  Clare is a member of the Ohio Premier Soccer Club based out of Dublin, Ohio.   

Clare is the daughter of Kurt and Carolyn and has a sister, Sarah.

Shae Gorin joins us from Canton, OH and will graduate from Jackson High School this spring.  Shae played soccer and ran track for Jackson.  Shae helped led her team to a District Championship in Soccer and a Regional Championship in 2017.  Shae is a member of the National Chinese Honor Society and holds an International Baccalaureate Diploma, a Jackson Academy of Global Studies Diploma, and is graduating Summa Cum Laude. 

Shae is daughter to Jennifer Gorin and has two sisters, Mae Ling and Anya, and a brother, Cooper.
