Wittenberg Takes 2-1 OT Decision From Denison

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's soccer team hosted the Denison Big Red on Saturday evening, taking down the NCAC rival 2-1 in dramatic fashion. Senior Leah Soutar got the scoring started for Wittenberg, beating the Big Red keeper in the 27th minute on the Kaitlyn Krieg assist. Wittenberg was not shy about taking chances on the Denison goal, putting the second goal in the back of the Big Red net with just over twenty minutes left to play, before getting called back for offsides. After a late Denison equalizer found its way into the Wittenberg goal, the Tigers found themselves heading to overtime for the fifth time this season.

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • Sophomore Kenzie Mason tallied the final goal for the Tigers just four minutes into overtime, finishing the assist from Jordyn Wright.
  • Efficiency was the theme, as Soutar accounted for two shots with one on target. Mason took her only shot on the final play of the game to give Wittenberg their third straight win.
