Trio of Tigers Named All Ohio, Fannon Named OCSA Women's Division III Coach of the Year

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Michelle Brunswick, Leah Soutar and Megan Davis were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association and the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association as members of the 2016 Women's NCAA Division III All Ohio Team on Tuesday. Head Coach Matt Fannon was also honored as the OCSA Women's NCAA Division III Coach of the Year.

Brunswick was named First Team All Ohio after a year of impressive accolades for the Tigers.

 

Brunswick was also named First Team All-Great Lakes Region as a defender for the first time as a Tiger, as the senior earned Second Team All-NCAC honors in 2015, as well as first-team honors in 2016.

 

The Middletown, Ohio native finished her Wittenberg career with 63 starts, 16 goals, and 33 points overall.

 

The 2016 season saw Brunswick net five goals, including two game-winners.

Soutar was named was also named first team All Ohio, after being named second Team All-Great Lakes Region as a forward after earning First Team All-NCAC Honors in 2016.

 

Wittenberg's assist leader in 2016, Soutar recorded 15 points on nine assists and three goals on the year, as the Troy, Ohio native helped guide the Tigers offense into the NCAA tournament.

 

Rounding out the All Ohio team for the Tigers was sophomore Megan Davis, who earned second team recognition from the OCSA.

 

Davis appeared in 20 matches for the Tigers in 2016, recording three goals, including one game winner against Wooster on October 29.

 

The 2015 NCAC Newcomer of the Year earned first team NCAC honors in 2016 as a midfielder for the second straight season.

 

Fannon, who led the Tigers to a national ranking an an NCAA playoff birth earned Coach of the Year honors from the NCAC as well as the OCSA in 2016.

 

The Tigers finished with a regular season NCAC title at 7-1-0 in conference play under Fannon's guidance, as the team played host to the NCAA regional in 2016.

 

In four total seasons in Springfield, Fannon has compiled a record of 40-25-10 and a mark of 21-8-3 in regular season matches.
