Two Named All-Great Lakes Region in Women's Soccer

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—The Wittenberg women's soccer team saw two members earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Great Lakes Region honors for the 2016 season.

Senior Michelle Brunswick and junior Leah Soutar each earned All-Region honors.

Brunswick was named First Team All-Great Lakes Region as a defender for the first time as a Tiger, as the senior earned Second Team All-NCAC honors in 2015, as well as first-team honors in 2016.

The Middletown, Ohio native finished her Wittenberg career with 63 starts, 16 goals, and 33 points overall.

The 2016 season saw Brunswick net five goals, including two game-winners.

Soutar was named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region as a forward after earning First Team All-NCAC Honors in 2016.

Wittenberg's assist leader in 2016, Soutar recorded 15 points on nine assists and three goals on the year, as the Troy, Ohio native helped guide the Tigers offense into the NCAA tournament.

Wittenberg won the regular season NCAC Title this past season, dropping the NCAC Conference Tournament Championship in post-season play. The road for the Tigers did not end their, as Wittenberg's body of work against top-25 competition caught the eye of the NCAA committee, earning an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament and playing host to the four team regional.
