WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Wittenberg Tigers ventured to the home turf of a nationally ranked foe for the second time in less than a week and once again found themselves on the short end of the score after Wisconsin-Whitewater captured a 4-1 decision.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 3-3-1 overall on the 2015 season, while the 11th-ranked Warhawks improved to 5-2-0. The Tigers lost to 10th-ranked Centre four days earlier, and they started the season with a road defeat at the hands of nationally ranked Thomas More.

Wisconsin-Whitewater got off to a fast start with two goals in the first 15 minutes. Leading 2-0 coming out of the halftime break, the Warhawks put the game well out of reach with two more goals in an eight-minute span of the second half before freshman Taylor Vaughn (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) got Wittenberg on the board with a goal after a feed from sophomore Lauren Hofer (Avon, Ind./Cardinal Ritter) in the 73rd minute.

Hofer led Wittenberg's offense with two of the Tigers' five shots in the game. Freshman Megan Davis (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Pickerington Central), sophomore Allison Ruman (Westerville, Ohio/Central) and sophomore Leah Soutar (Troy, Ohio/Troy) each finished with one attempt on the Warhawks' frame.

Wittenberg faced 18 shots from the host team as sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Wilson (Pickerington, Ohio/North) was credited with three saves. A Wittenberg defender cleared an additional shot off the line.

After a home date with Ohio Athletic Conference powerhouse Ohio Northern on Wednesday, Sept. 23, the Tigers will open North Coast Athletic Conference play with a road trip to Kenyon on Saturday, Sept. 26.
