SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers dominated possession but couldn't solve DePauw's defense in a 1-0 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) loss.

Wittenberg saw its three-game winning streak snapped. The host Tigers dropped to 8-6-1 overall and 4-3-0 in the NCAC, heading into a challenging season finale at league-leading Allegheny on Saturday, Nov. 1. Seven teams remain in the hunt for spots in the four-team NCAC Tournament, with Wittenberg currently hanging on to the fourth and final position.

The host Tigers dominated possession throughout the game, finishing with a commanding 20-5 advantage in shots. Wittenberg never broke through despite a host of quality scoring opportunities, including six corner kick opportunities, compared to four for DePauw.

The game's lone goal came at the 22:04 mark of the first half. DePauw's Bridget Brendza took a shot from a tough angle, and the rebound bounced right to a crashing Caroline Zadina, who knocked it home.

The initial save on the play was one of two in the game for Wittenberg freshman goalkeeper Alexa Murrietta (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge). Her counterpart from DePauw was credited with seven saves as Wittenberg took 10 shots in each half.

Senior Chelsey Marcum (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) led the host Tigers with five shots, including four on frame. Junior Kate Burns (Granger, Ind./Penn) added four shots.
